Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Keterpu Town is grown into part of Dolo Town. This town is one of the oldest Town and historical Towns in the area. This place carries the highest number of men, women and children in the Dolo Community. It is located along Dolo Town main street. This part of Dolo is very broad... a good ball kicking spot. They have good access to main road, market ground, good public school, and good business area, This part of town is full of people of Kissi Tribe from Lofa County. The majority of them way back were Firestone workers. They are here on hard struggle to survive. You know the Lofa people are famed for farming. Most now farm or garden but some burn coal. Their houses are somehow built from sticks, mud, branches and some cement blocks and plenty mud blocks. The community also has access to good and clean public toilet. It is controlled by two Kissi men. Ten Liberian dollars for a pupu and five Liberian dollars for pepee. But this place missed one thing - safe drinking water! Because the town is very large, they haul water from open wells and swamp water. Sometimes, they go across the big road to other areas searching for water.
On Feb 23, 2018, a workshop was held for this town sharing the basics of health & hygiene. 25 members attended and enjoyed the many lessons. Most dwellers lacke cleaness. But through the workshop they learned and promised to change their old behaviour. They were excited to gain benefit from a new Afridev handpump, installed by Lifewater and her sponsors. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
