A message from the community

Dear Sir/Madame:

We the members of the Israel Community express our deep thanks and appreciation concerning the development of the handpump you have built for us.

This handpump has brought great change to our community that is also granting us reduction in waterborne diseases which we have suffered from in the past: cholera, bloody stools etc.)

May God bless the entire Lifewater Liberia and Lifewater Canada and all the donors who made this well possible.  We promise to take good care of it and to continually remember you all in our prayers.

Respectully

Mohammed

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Israel Community is located in lower margibi and is the last and largest community between Monsterrado and lower Margibi county. with a population of about 725 inhabitants most of whom are women and children. The people are mainly of the Bassa Tribe.

The major problem surrounding this community is safe drinking water due to the location and the land formation of the place. Their source of water is from open hand dug wells which gets dry at setting of the year thus leading them at times to travel to other communities to access safe water. The Israel Community wells during the dry season dries up and the rainy season is covered with swamp water.

They also are faced with poor hygienic condition because of lack of health education and other basic social services. this community is one of the faster growing area and may soon been over populated due to large land available many people are moving from Montserrado to acquire land in this part of the Margibi.

The participants of the workshop appreciated the Lifewater HH Team and drillers for the education and the safe drinking water.
