Rivière Sable is located in Plaine du Nord, near Milot. The town is named after the adjacent river (Rivière Sable) that flows 7 km to the ocean. This intermittent stream is not a safe, or relaible, source of drinking water. As a result, local girls and women have had to spent much time and energy walking to distant places to get safe drinking water. This is very hot, heavy, tiring and time-consuming!
