A message from the community

Dear Sir,

Greetings come to you from all of us here.  We can't say enough about how much you have rescued us with the addition of a new handpump.

For years we have struggled with not enough water and from the illness that it often brought into our families.  Now we have this safe water for everyone to enjoy.

We will take good care of our gift.

Thank you

J Sumo Kukular

Chief

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Old Community Land is also a part of Compound # 3 located in Grand Bassa County. It is situated behind Central Wayzohn. The Old Community Land' got its name from the long time in existence,  established long before other communities within Compound #3 ,  established in 1968. But with no much of center Government basic services reaching the population.  Over time the population has grown thus leading to the expansion and the establishment of what is known as new community land. Most of the people of the new land community migrated from this Old community Land to settle and have access to more farm land for their livelihood. They grow variety of cash crops, to name a few rice, cassava, eddoes bitter ball, pepper etc.

Before the coming of Life water to drilled wells for this community, the major cause of death and sicknesses over a long period of time have been the lack of safe and clean water for the population.

The women and children have to go through the bushes to get water taking high risks of being attack by criminals and sometimes get bitten by snakes. Girls are at high risk of snakes bite while going to fetch water.

The Lifewater Health and Hygiene Team were on time to rescue the young children from these harmful and unhealthy conditions. The people of this community appreciated the Health and Hygiene Team for their good work.

The towns people promise to take good care of the hand pumps and use what they learn from the Workshop and  make it  part of their daily life.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
