A message from the community |

Dear Sir, As an entirety, all of our community members extend their greetings and heartfelt thanks to you for this gift of life that we now enjoy in our new water well. We are a growing town and our needs have long been unmet when it comes to drinking water. Now we are confident that our children will have a legacy of a healthy life and a chance to grow. Thank you Emmet Weahgan |

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Poinahn Community was established long ago the name Poinahn is a dialect word in the Bassa language meaning, 'A Place of Rescue'. Poinahn Community is highly populated with mostly women and children. Subsistence farming and petty businesses like other communities are basic means of Living. In this community, unlike others no close-by connection with other communities, have to go long distances to fetch water from open hand dug wells and creeks for drinking and other domestic activities. In the hygiene workshop we taught about how to purify surface water for washing food and spent much time teaching the importance of washing their hands after using toilet or before eating.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
