A message from the community |

Dear Sir We all have been deeply blessed by the hard work and considerable effort expended on our behalf to install a new well and handpump for our village. We know that this will richly bless everyone and words can't be enough to express how much we appreciate your help. It is a lasting legacy and will bless our children and theirs to come. Thank you so much Josiah S Davies |

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Tower Street Community is located in Compound # 3, Grand Bassa County. It is found right after the Community within the same Compound # 3. Tower Street Community got its name from a nearby telecom tower that was built by the Liberia Agriculture Mining company 'LAMCO'. The tower was built long before the Community was established in the 1960s. The population of this Community is large with women and children in their number . The main livelihood for these people is subsistence farming and small businesses to up keep their families. Despite the old age of this community, they lack of basic social services which is a major problem of this Community. Things like safe drinking water, the lack of schools and a clinic hold back the well being of this town. In order to get water, especially for those who cannot afford to pay for a hand dug well for their own household means they have to beg to go to their neighbor's open well. This poses a big problem during the dry season, when most of these open hand dug wells go dry. Everyone is then forced to fetch water from nearby creeks. Cholera, Skin Diseases and other water borne diseases are a frequent occurance. The Workshop brought relief to residents of Tower Community, when they were taught how to improve their way of living by applying the basic Hygiene practices like purifying water domestically before consumption, washing hands, and keepin.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
