A message from the community |

Dear Sir, Your presence in our community and the provision of a new well and handpump will change the lives of everyone. During the dry season, our women and children have had to walk though the bushes, sometimes over an hour to find water. We all look with thankfulness that those days are over. We learned in the workshop how to take good care of this new pump and who to call when it needs maintenance. We are all of one mind that we will keep the area clean and mind the lessons that we were taught. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for the good work that you have done and extend our thanks to all who made this possible. May God bless the works of your hands. George Padmore Town Chief |

Vanyeama Town Quarter#1 is located on along the Kakata - Bong Mines Highway. It is situated right after Gwekpolorsue Town from Kakata city. It was established in the 1960's by the Late Father Kpanah Darker and was previously used as a burial site . The word Vanyeama in the Kpelle language means 'On the Storm Hill'. This name came about when Father Darker and his brother newly arrived with their family a very powerful storm blew through destroying their homes and nearby trees and they had to start their lives all over again from scratch with other families joining them later to established settle. Due to the location and hilly land formation of the town water has always been a big problem. Up to know their main source of water is from open hand dug wells which routinely ran dry, nearby creeks and streams which has been the major causes of various water borne diseases, especially for the children. The Lifewater H & H Team was the first to conduct such a workshop in that Town, teaching them about how to stay healthy by practicing the basic Hygiene methods taught them in the Workshop. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
