Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

This town is one of the major town along the Monrovia - Buchanan high way and is  named after a man name old-man Bokay. The Town has a very large population mostly young people.

Due to its location, during the Liberian civil war, it was a  place of hideous atrocities leaving many victims hopeless and frustrated about their lives.

The only source of water for the locals here is open hand dug wells and nearby creeks. This town lacks safe drinking water causing serious life-threatening conditions for the children and women of the area.  Illness  like diarrhea, typhoid malaria and skin rashes are common among the people. There is also a serious lack of latrine facilities, and an overall dirty environment.

The arrival of the Lifewater Health and Hygiene Team in Bokay Town was a relief  for the women and children  as they  conducted a Workshop that taught them about basic hygiene practices to live healthy life. The lesson taught the participants was basic hygienic on keeping their environment clean, local purification of water they use for domestic purposes, washing their hands before eating and  washing hands after using the latrine.  After the Workshop, the participants gave appreciation and thanks to God for the H&H Team, the entire Lifewater Family and the Sponsor of this program.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
