A message from the community |

Dear Sir, We the people have expressed great joy over the new well. Together we offer this letter as a means to express our gratitude to all who have brought us safe water to drink. On behalf of our women and children and indeed everyone thank you! We have suffered for as long as we can remember because water has been such an issue and now we are free from that curse. Only our God in His magnitude could move hearts so far away to bring this gift to us. We are grateful and pray that the blessings flow as freely to you as they do from our new well. Sincerely Famatto Joseph Well Caretaker |

Brown's Town Q#3 is located along the Harbel Highway to 15 Gate Highway. It is a few minutes from the Harbel Clinic in Firestone, situated in front of quarter #6 It is large and populated mainly with youth. It is a part of the same area that was established by fishermen and women for fishing purposes as it is located closed to the Yourma River . The place is surrounded by a very large swamp land which means during the heavy rains there is a lot of flooding. The various shallow dug wells become filled with surface water and there is often breakouts of disease. Since there is no toileting facilities, the creeks and swamps are used and as you can imagine due to the high populace (830) this poses a severe issue as contaminated flood water flows into the wells. At times people die before even reaching the Du-side Hospital that is being run by the Firestone rubber company. The Lifewater H and H Team conducted a Workshop training to educate the people on how to purify their water and what to do to prevent diseases from overcoming them by keeping their environment clean.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
