Lifewater Child

Dear Helpers, Yugi Women's Group was started by a group of women whose aim was to assist individual members in acquiring household wares like utensils and animals to raise. This has been going on over the years and there is one thing that remained a big problem that was affecting both the group activities and the general lives of families, particularly the girl child. The community members needed water and our source before the provided borehole was a stream that is again seasonal, plus ponds and roof catchment when it rains. The animals also need water to do well, so even with farm animals available to members, the group was not doing well because of lack of safe drinking water. The girl child, who traditionally and culturally is the one to help the mother in domestic chores, had to wake-up very early to find the water still settled, as the same water point is being used by both humans and animals. The result has been the girls do not perform as well as boys when it comes to school examinations. With the provided water point, courtesy of Lifewater Canada through GWAKO Ministries, we automatically see things headed for the better, as the lives of both our animals and ourselves are improving tremendously. Water, and not just water, but safe drinking water, is now available when we need it, giving us time to attend to other economical activities. The performance of the girl child will dramatically improve as they are now having equal learning time with their boy counterparts. Live long, and may God Bless the works of your hands! Yugi Women's Group

Lela Primary school is situated a few meters from the main Kisum-Narobi Road in Lela sub-location Kombura, Kadibo division, Kisum district. The school has a population of 452 pupils and a staff of 9 teachers. The school has been with a big problem of no safe drinking water. Our source has been a seasonal river by the school and an open hand dug well in a secondary school neighbouring our school. The only means of drinking water from the unprotected well has been by rope and bucket which again further contaminates the water as particles coming out of the rope and from the ground the bucket sits on gets into the water. The result has been children and teachers complaining of stomach ailments from time to time. Now with our new water point in place and working the problem will be history and the general school performance will start climbing the ladder to where the rest with safe drinking water are. God bless Lifewater Canada and GWAKO Ministries and may they continue to reach the unreached of Nyasza province with safe drinking water. Thomas Onditi Aydd, Chairman School Committee

Dear Sir: Disi school and the community at large hereby highly appreciate your kind support to their school by providing 1: two door VIP latrine and 2: safe and clean protected drilled borehole. By providing those very essential items to the school and the community. Now both can live free of waterborne diseases and highly improved hygiene in the school and on a community level. Sir/madam you have just met part of our dream. We are still running and the road is still long due to 1: growing population of the school and 2: improvement in the girl child enrollment. We therefore need more latrines to provide for the growing high population. We may say thank-you again for the great support to our cause. May God bless the ministry greatly in achieving your ever noble goals. Yours Faithfully, John O Oriawo, Head Teacher, Disi Primary School

Dear Sir/Madame (Bismilahi Ramari Rahim): It's with great pleasure that the whole community of Nyangande wishes to send their unconditional thanks to Lifewater for their life saving act shown to us. We dearly wish that you continue the same way to other people who might be trying to endure with the lack of water in several regions across the country. Just to confirm our gratitude we would like to explain how severe the drought affects this community. First, the people are forced to travel for a long distance in search of water which can only be found in streams, meaning un-hygienic water. Thank-you for your help! Second, the lack of water has caused conflicts among people or groups as the boreholes around this place can't serve the entire community. Thank-you once more and so the list to the just concluded suffering. God bless you. In a major boost, the Nyangande Islam, in conjunction with your group, has helped transform the whole village. We wish that you do it in other parts of the region where water has become a sacred substance or places that are prone to drought. Once again the Kawino South location wishes to thank you for your unconditional deed to our community. Indeed we give you a thumbs up because you are a winning team. God bless you! Village Leaders, Nyangade Muslim society

Dear Sir: The Chairlady and Elders extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to your organization for install a Handpump for the provision of safe drinking water. Prior to this initiative, the Residents of Seekey have sought drinking water from unhealthy sources: wells, covered and exposed, while others travel outside of this community as far as the Duport Road clinic (MOH). You will have greatly lessened the burden our community has, in acquiring safe drinking water and will positively contribute to the health of our residents, a laudable venture. Please accept our thanks and appreciation and we urge that you continue your philanthropic humanitarian gestures to other needy communities. You can be assured that we will certainly call upon you again as the need arises. Best regards, Sincerely yours, Wallace L. Stewart, Sr., Acting Chairman

Before your team could aware us of the danger an unhealthy environment causes, we didn't know anything about it, we did not also know that keeping food uncover could make you to get pupu into your mouth and many other things. Their teaching indeed was wonderful and rewarding. You didn't stop there, you sent your men with you equipment to drill a well for us which we are now benefiting from. Before this well was constructed, our children was crossing car roads, and going many miles in search of save water. But today we do not go longer distance any more to fetch water because we now have a hand pump. May God Almighty bless the work of your hands, in Jesus mighty name. Kind Regards, James g. Garmelahea

Dear Sir: We would like to express our grateful appreciation to your excellent field crew for the work they did and the presentations that were made to the 2 villages of Pelilewe and Demeta. The works was done quickly and everyone gave god praise and thanks for the new wells. The wells were turned over to the communities for their use and care. Demeta Town had tried on many occasions to have a proper well put in but had no success. They had given up hope of having a good well, and now are very grateful to have this dream fulfilled. Those members of the community who have taken on the responsibility of caretaker and maintenance of these wells are proud to have been chosen for this task. With grateful thanks.

Dear Sir, Madam: As principal of the Kpor Town Community Elementary School along with our students, we wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to your organization for providing safe drinking for our school. For the past years we have been drinking from a hand dug well. So because of the bad source of water that we were drinking, we experienced lots of sicknesses and death rate. However, because of your present and the service given us, we believe that sickness and death rate will be minimized. We will always remember and pray for you as you continue to provide safe drinking for our country. May the Almighty Lord be with your organization forever, Amen. Thanks. Truly yours, Bro.
