A message from the community |
I would personally like to appreciate Lifewater Canada/Lifewater Nigeria for all the hard work and diligent effort in completing this project. It was your good will that has given us a project such as this. On behalf of the church, I would like to thank you for your service. We deeply understand the value of your contribution. We hope this project has helped you achieve one of your organizational goals. Again, we are grateful to have you contribute to the development of Dukpa community. -- Pastor Gwaza Remi, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Dukpa

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Dukpa is a fast-growing community in Nigeria’s Gwagwalada Area Council. A few years back, Dukpa was a quiet little community but not since growing insecurity prompted the Government to set up a military barracks around the area. Ever since, there has been an influx of migrants. Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dukpa was established in reaction to this expansion to meet the spiritual needs of the people. Over the years, the church and surrounding community have experienced significant challenges, including an urgent need for safe water. In response, we have repaired broken hand pumps on wells so good water could flow again. However, the community still had no toilets and so people were making use of nearby bushes for defecating. This was very unsanitary. We are grateful to God and to our supporters for the opportunity to build community toilets in Dukpa. Now, people’s water needs and sanitation needs are being met. |
