A message from the community |
On behalf of my school, P.C.E.A. Edburgon Primary, I want to express gratitude for the repair of the school’s water well. We are very happy, and the community is thankfully done with sharing water sources with the cattle. Jared Maranga, Senior Teacher |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
P.C.E.A. Edburgon Primary School in Molo, in Kenya's Nakuru County, has 1,300 students. The hand pump on their well broke down several years ago but the school couldn't afford to fix it. The administration harvested rain water but there wasn't enough to meet all of the students' drinking and sanitation needs. Meanwhile, the surrounding community was dependent on dirty water from a nearby river. Then Lifewater Canada donors paid for the broken pump to be repaired so the school could have safe and accessible water again. The school is also building a system to conveniently transport some of the well water to the nearby community. “This well is theirs as much as it is ours so we are almost complete with the construction of the infrastructure that will channel water to the community,” Senior Teacher Jared Maranga says. “We are very happy, and the community is thankfully done with sharing water sources with their cattle." |
