Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Sokoro Primary School in Molo, in Kenya's Nakuru County, has 850 students. After the hand-powered pump on the school's water well failed several months ago, students and staff were forced to rely on harvested rainwater during the wet season and on a dirty river when the harvested water ran out during the dry season. Nancy Mboro, the school’s head teacher, says her students spent a lot of time fetching for water for drinking and cleaning purposes when they needed to be in their classrooms instead. “We love our students, and we want the best for them," she adds. "That’s why it was important for us to ask for help with the rehabilitation of the pump." Lifewater Canada, thanks to its donors, has repaired the broken pump and safe, accessible water is flowing at the school again. “We are a happy community. Now, our students can focus on their studies and have clean water for their personal and school activities. We are blessed and grateful.” |
