A message from the community |
It’s been years since we had clean water for consumption around here. The water at the river isn’t clean. This is why we are so thankful for this amazing service and to have clean water once again. We are happy that our well is producing water again. Bernard Kaguro, Deputy Headteacher, Dagorreti Nyakinyua Primary School. |
Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |
Dagorreti Nyakinyua Primary School and its 598 students had no access to safe water for several years after the hand pump on their well failed. The children and staff were forced to draw water from a nearby river that was contaminated by cattle who also drank from it, recalls Headteacher Bernard Kaguro. Then Lifewater Canada, thanks to its donors, repaired the broken hand pump to ensure safe and accessible water is available again to the school and surrounding community. “It’s been years since we had clean water for consumption around here," Bernard says. "The water at the river isn’t clean. This is why we are so thankful for this amazing service."
