Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Kavuti Primary School in Nuu, Mwingi Central in Kenya's Kitui County, has 70 students. All of them rely on rain to meet their water needs. Given that rain in the region is very rare and becoming rarer, the school desperately wanted to harvest and store more water in the rainy season for use in the dry season. But administrators lacked the money to address the problem. Then Lifewater Canada donors furnished the school with a rainwater catchment system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and hand-washing station. The school, after years of having insufficient water supply, or going without it altogether, is now assured of enough safe water for everyone's drinking and hygiene needs. Jackson Malonza, a teacher at the school, says safe drinking water has brought much joy to the students and staff. They have also been inspired to always keep their hands clean. |
