Mboti Primary School in the Nguni area, Mwingi central in in Kenya's Kitui County, has 346 students. The school would harvest rain for everyone's daily water use but didn't have much storage capacity. Therefore, only a short time after each rainfall, the stored water would be depleted. Lifewater Canada donors provided the school with a rainwater catchment system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and hand-washing station. With 10,000 litres of additional storage capacity, the Mboti Primary School's community members are confident they have enough water for use even when the rains stop. The new system is ensure everyone has enough to drink, and helping the students lead hygienic and sanitized lives. |
