We, the entire board of management, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, and students thank you for provision of the 10,000-litre tank and handwashing station. Our students are happy to have more water in a place that initially had none. Robert Muthui, Community Leader, Kyalamoko Primary School |

Kyalamoko Primary School in Nguni, Mwingi central in Kenya's Kitui County, has 302 students. They are able to drink from a nearby borehole but Deputy Headteacher Solomon Mutua says the water from it isn't safe -- often causing illnesses. Lifewater Canada donors recently provided the school with a rainwater harvesting system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and handwashing station so students have safe water for drinking and handwashing during rainy and dry seasons. Solomon says the system is helping the students to lead healthy lives and to be present in class more often because their aren't combatting diarrhea or other illnesses.
