After the hand-powered pump on their well failed, the people of Angwa Sarki no longer had access to safe water for drinking and other household needs. Women and children in the community who normally gathered water for their families had to begin making long walks to and from the river. Along the way, they risked being attacked by snakes or thieves while bringing home water that was contaminated and often made people sick.

Thanks to our donors, Lifewater has rehabilitated Angwa Sarki's well, including replacing the broken hand pump, so safe and readily accessible water is available to everyone. Women and children are no longer waking up every day fearful of another trip to the river, and the community's health has improved.
