NNPC Depot Suleja has had to contend with a slow pace of development and absence of social amenities for many years. Water has been one of the most significant challenges, especially after the hand-powered pump on the community's only well failed. "We would get our water from vendors, which not everyone could afford," recalls Usman, a local man. "Those who could not afford it would get their water from the river which is not a safe source for consumption. That water has led to stomach sicknesses and skin conditions such as eczema and rashes." Thanks to our donors, Lifewater visited the community recently and replaced the broken hand pump. "We are delighted that we have good and safe water through the support of Lifewater Canada," Usman says. "May God bless and protect you, and provide for all your needs." |
