A message from the community |

I thank you so much, Lifewater Canada, for blessing our school with a water tank and handwashing station. Our community could not afford the tank though we needed safe drinking water for our students. W e appreciate you for being a blessing. Robert Waweru, Community Leader

Ngiluni Mbuvu Secondary School in Nguni, Mwingi Central in Kenya's Kitui County, has 205 students. To address the boys' and girls' drinking and hygiene needs, school administrators would spend about $22 each week to buy water from local vendors. During many weeks, there wasn't enough money available so the students would have no water. Lifewater Canada donors recently provided a rainwater harvesting system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and hand-washing station so the school can collect water during the rainy season for use throughout the dry season. Now there is enough water for most people to drink and wash their hands. The school still needs to buy water sometimes, but only $11 must be spent during each of those weeks. The money the school is saving will be used to equip the school with even more rainwater harvesting and storage facilities. |
