The closest water source for the struggling people of Petti Village was a pond contaminated by surface runoff and by animals that often used it as a toilet. Worse yet, the path to the pond was long and dangerous. "Our young girls have been raped by Fulani herdsmen on their way to the pond at 4:00 a.m.” says community member Abraham Dansoho. "“We have suffered untold hardship." Lifewater Canada donors eased that hardship when they funded the drilling of a well in Petti Village that is providing safe and easily accessible water for everyone. Abraham thanked the drilling team for their hard work and for taking away the shame for him and his neighbors of being helpless and terrorized. "Our intervention has restored dignity in Petti Village," says team leader Hosea Apeh. "We have been a blessing from God." |
