When the hand-powered pump on their well failed, the people of Gida Maguwa Gbawupi Kungo had to begin walking a long distance to the nearest river to gather water for their families' needs. Women did most of the walking, often with babies on their backs and a heavy bucket or basin on their heads. Worse yet, the water inside these containers was dirty and therefore unsafe to drink, leading to sickness among both children and adults. 

Thanks to our donors, Lifewater has replaced the broken hand pump in Gida Maguwa Gbawupi Kungo. Safe and readily accessible water is available to the community again. People said they appreciate the support of Lifewater Canada and prayed for God's protection of the team.
