Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The Water and Sewer Community (Quarter#3) is located right behind the Monrovia Junction and the General Market.

The name "Water & Sewer" came from a service provided in this location by the Liberian Government (sub-distribution center) for the Buchannan city water supply. This Rural water project took place before the 1990 Liberian Civil war. After the war was over every source of safe drinking water was destroyed, and looted. All the supplies from the Water & Sewer Station were also destroyed.

As a result of all this destruction, 75% of the inhabitants of this community have suffered many years from a lack of safe drinking water. Even after the Station was rehabilitated, it was not supported by the Government, thus making it difficult for the center to provided safe clean water to the local people. This new well will provide safe water for this community of mostly women and children.

A Health & Hygiene Workshop was held for the community on August 21, 2018 with 25 participants. One of the Workshop lessons instructed them on how to prepare their own Oral rehydration solution in case of severe running stomach.

At the end of the Workshop there was applause of appreciation to the Lifewater Family. The people concluded that drinking safe water and keeping their environment clean are major keys to a long and healthy life.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
