A message from the community

Dear Lifewater & Sponsor, We the inhabitants of Jerko Town (Block A Quarter#3) write to extend our thanks and appreciation for constructing such a wonderful hand pump in our community, that will supply us with safe drinking water. We have been lacking safe water and walking long distances over the years just to get some water, after a few days we take another journey. But to God be the glory and to you, that water is now at our door steps. It really surprised us how expensive it is to drill a well. But with your help and our best contribution, it has been given to us! The workers did excellent and professional work. We promise to take good care of the pump, because our lives depend on it. May God bless you all! Matthew L. Garduah, Coordinator Division A

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Jerko Town (Block A Quarter#3) is the upper part of Jerko Town located near the Buchanan Orphanage Home Center Highway, a few minutes walk from the Orphanage Home. This area is very bushy with lots of tall grasses that cover the roads. This large community of men, women and children, have built their houses extending as far back as the Benson River. The children do not go to school and the living conditions are terrible. The people here have had great hardship because of the lack of water especially in the dry season, and they do not have money to pay for a well. This new well brings them Health & Hope and provides them and their families with safe drinking water for many years to come. On August 20, 2018 a Health & Hygiene Workshop was conducted with 20 participants. The instructors carefully presented hygiene lessons to help them understand the practices and the importance of continuing what they have learned for a Healthy home and Community. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
