Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

This community is located along the dusty road linking the Lamco Community to the Buchanan Seaport, and shares a border with the Flower Mill Community. This community is populated with approximately 750 people. Both Muslims and Christians are a part of this community and they live together in harmony. There are Churches, schools and a Mosque in this community. The Muslim School was established in 2016 with 400 plus students and staff.

There has been no safe drinking water in this area since the school was establish and the community’s main source of water has been from open hand dug wells. These hand dug wells dry up during the hot season, and when there is water it is unsafe to drink. With the consumption of this water from the hand dug wells, the people have suffered with sickness and water borne diseases.

The female students are often late for school or do not attend at all, because they are out looking for water. Mr. Bilah Massaly who is the Principal of the Islamic School said “in 2017 three of our female students were raped and became pregnant during their daily search of water. The pregnant girls were sent back to Guinea to live with their Grand Parents”.

The new well was drilled with a hand pump installed for the people, which is located on the premises of the Mosque/School.

This new well means less children get sick from drinking polluted water. And rather than spending hours hauling water from distant water sources, girls are able to be in school, getting the same educational opportunities as boys. Thank you to all who have donated to funding this well, you have provided safe water for a community in great need! Safe Water Saves Lives!

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
