A message from the community

Dear Sir/Madame, Sir, this is the first fruit of its kind for our community. Our thanks and appreciation can't be said enough for the application of this handpump for all to enjoy. 15 years ago UNICEF built us a well but it was destroyed and no one has come to us in all that time. We know first hand that water is life and our lives have suffered greatly from drinking from bad sources We ask the good Lord to reward you abundantly for your generosity in this initiative. We will always remember you in our prayers. Signed; S Moses Acoi Town Chief

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Part of the Last Well Initiative Needowein town is located along the RIA road after disco hill in Lower Margibi county. The town's name in the Bassa tribe means "Taste the water in your Mouth". It is a historic place for the Bassa people who came originally from Grand Bassa to settle in this part of Lower Margibi. They were in search of safe drinking water to enable them settle, like many cities and towns came into being once settlers found water. In the case of Needowein, when they were looking for water they found the lower part of the Farmington river' one of Liberia's major rivers and called the others to come and taste it and see if the water was good for their health. Since then that place has remained their final destination. The Lifewater HH Team were welcomed and the villages were happy to to acquire knowledge about how to sustain a healthy life by following and continuously keeping into practice the lessons taught during the H&H Workshop. They promised to also teach those who did not attend the Workshop on how to keep their surrounding clean for a healthy life. After drilling the depth of about 150 ft in this town, (Needowien) without getting to the water table, the people of this town were seen worry and down-hearted because the team was not successful in getting water in that part of the town for the first time. But with God all things are possible. When the team was relocated after a week, this time all the people gather to sign praises and worship God while the drilling was on going by the grace of God in no time the rig was in to the water table bring out water. the locals happily joined in dance giving thanks to God for answering their prayers. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
