Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

This Community is located right after Samoz Lodge Guest House just two to three minutes walk away from the Guest House. The Community is large and populated with men women and children with the youth having the highest population.

Their problems are the same as compare to Quarter 1. There is no safe drinking water and latrine. Their main source of water has been from open hand dug wells and the bushes and the swamp land were used for toileting.

From my own point of view, it seems like this area has been established long ago because the houses they live are some old mostly leaking, partly broken down with old zinc still on top as roof covering. There are lots of Government workers but majority are retired.

There is a very deep swamp in the back of this Quarter. The swamp are used by the old people to plant their crops. The crops are harvested and sold to sustain their livelihood. Crops like pumpkin, okra, pepper sugar cane, greens and many other food crops.

The Health and Hygiene workshop was centered around how the community dwellers can avoid some common diseases by how to chlorinate water from hand dug well before using it. Also how to control their feces where their is no latrine and to always keep their environment clean.
