Mende Town Quarter#7 is located on the right side of 15 Gate from the direction of Kakata heading towards Gbarnga and is also right around the Firestone Plantation belt. It has quite a large population with many women and children. Their main source of water is from hand dug open wells. Most people here farm, have little businesses or work in the nearby rubber plantation. There has been many outbreaks of diseases very likely due to poor water and their substandard living conditions. The Health and Hygiene Team from Lifewater conducted a workshop that taught the participants the basics of disease transmission, how to treat running stomach and good handwashing techniques. They were excited to start applying these methods ion their everyday lives. They were thankful to the Lifewater Health and Hygiene Team and the Sponsor for this worthy cause.
This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
