A message from the community

Dear Sir,

We are pleased to salute your good humanitarian efforts and ask a blessing on all who made this new well become a reality in our community.  Thank you.

The one day workshop that was given to our members was very useful and we look forward to sharing the information with our families. Please let everyone in your organization know how much we appreciate your gift of safe water for us and know that we pledge to care for this new well with every ounce of our energies.

Thank you

Mr Morris M Heuston

Youth President

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Q#1 is located behind the Liberia Marine Training Institute (LMTI). It is a large and populated area to be fishing and petty trade. It has a one way entrance and exit route because of the sea. It is a Government owned land area and was organized for migration of squatters by Hon. Borbor Weah, who is the Kru Governor there.

During the Liberian civil war, terrible things happened here. Because many of the inhabitants trace their roots to Ghanian fisherman, there was cultural hatred culminating in the NPFL rebel group coming in, cutting open pregnant women. In a sick, twisted link to scripture, all baby boys under the age of 2 were killed. This was a place of dispair and hopelessness.

Marshall City Q#1 is bless with a school, clinic and  Church but lack safe drinking water despite its importance to the Liberian economy. Their main source of  water is an open hand dug wells that are contaminated with dog  pupu all around the area because there are so many dogs been raised here.

A workshop was held by the Lifewater Liberia Health and Hygiene Team to educate the locals on basic healthy practices and how to keep safe from common illnesses  by removing dirt within the town and purifying water domestically before consumption.

They gave thanks and appreciation to the Team and their sponsor for coming to their rescue.

This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support!
