A message from the community |

Dear Project Sponsor, It is with great joy that we put pen to paper to thank you all for this marvelous gift of a new well for our village. We have been long waiting for our cries to be heard and at long last our prayers have been answered. Thank you! We have learned in the workshop how to care for our new water well and promise to always value the pump and care for it. We are lifting up the need of our fellow neighbours for more wells like ours as the need here is great and the suffering for drinking from creeks and rivers is constant. Thank you so much for helping us overcome this hardship. Although we may never meet, you will never be forgotten. Faithfully James T Kollie Head Town Chief

The population in this large quarter is 650 people. Brown's Town Q#2 is locate on the left hand side of the main road from the Harbel market and is the first community that you enter upon arrival in Brown's town from Harbel town in Firestone. It is called by the locals front view community and is largely populated with mainly youth. It is a part of the same area that was established by fishermen and women for fishing purposes because of the location being close to the Yourma River. The river separates lower Margibi County from Montserrado County. The issues of water and sanitation for this town was a serious issue before Lifewater came in to provide a hand pump and conduct a health and hygiene education workshop for the people. Though the water issue to some extent had been settle with the new hand pump, their lack of toileting facility remains a huge challenge for them. The mosquitoes and other disease carrying insects and abundant rats continue to pose a serious threat to the well being of these locals. Water borne diseases like running stomach or diarrhea are very common here made much worse due to an absent of Clinic in the area. This difficult situation is the major course of death in the area. The Lifewater H and H Team conducted a Workshop educating the people of Q#2 on how to purify their water and what to do to prevent diseases from overcoming them emphasizing the need to their environment clean. This well was drilled as part of a cooperative NGO initiative to provide safe drinking water to all Liberian's. Thanks to ''The Last Well Inc.'' for their coordination and support! |
