Appreciation Letter We write to say thank you for your continued intervention in our community by donating a public latrine. We sincerely appreciate your contribution to community development Yours faithfully, Baka H. Ali, Community Leader
The humiliation of relieving oneself in the open, fear of being harassed, experiencing violence, and psychosocial stress are some of the ugly experiences of residents of Angwa Tudun. There are cases of young girls and women being groped and raped in the wee hours of the morning, and many getting stung by snakes. The repercussion of inadequate sanitation brought about by open defecation is even worse, which has led to a challenge to the health, sanitation, and safety of the residents. This agonizing experience for women and girls doesn’t end with health implications; girls grapple with the embarrassment of cleaning up in the open with the onset of menstruation. When we came in, there was palpable hopelessness and distress due to the health and sanitation-related challenges in the community. With our intervention, the residents can now live healthier lives with dignity.
