This is a short note to let you know how grateful we at Hyssop Ministries International for the new toilets. It would have taken us years to construct one toilet on our own. We are happy we don’t have to worry about it anymore. Yours Faithfully, Raphael Tsialema Church Pastor

Hyssop Ministries International is a church in the Rhonda area of Kenya’s Nakuru County. The church did not have toilets. Pastor Raphael Tsialema says members of his congregation would sometimes leave the service early in search of a toilet and not be able to return by the time the service ended. “There is no way you could encourage them to stay for the service if they needed to go,” he says. Now, Lifewater Canada donors have provided toilets and hand-washing facilities for the church. Raphael says he is thankful that the donors were not just thoughtful enough to improve his church’s hygiene and sanitization but also their dignity as human beings. “We are practically at the heart of a slum. I have seen the worst of what is in place of a latrine. Ours is the best there is and it is for us. I am grateful.”
