A message from the community

Thank you Lifewater Canada for the repair of the school's water pump by replacing the plunger seal and one pump rod. This has enabled the pupils to have adequate water for both drinking and for sanitation purposes. -- Tom Mugah Ondiwo, Deputy Headteacher

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Siany Kabonyo Primary School in Nyando sub-county, in Kenya's Kisumu County, has 500 students. They and their families who live in the area were forced to drink water from a contaminated river for nine years after the hand-powered pump on their well broke down and no one was available to fix it. Lifewater learned of their plight and, with support from our donors, repaired the pump -- giving the students and their families access to clean water for all their drinking, cooking, and sanitation needs. This will eliminate most of the sicknesses in the community caused by waterborne diseases, predicted Tom Ondiwo, the school's Deputy Headteacher.
