We, the community of Kiliku Primary School, wish to thank Lifewater Canada for the donation of a rainwater catchment system that is providing our students with much-needed water. |

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners) |

Kiliku Primary School in Mwingi central constituency, in Kenya's Kitui County, has 97 students. All of them were expected to bring water to school each day because the school had no other water source. Sometimes, the line-ups to gather water were very long, which meant students arrived late for class, causing some children to fall behind in their studies. Thanks to our donors, Lifewater Canada has provided a rainwater harvesting system which includes a large 10,000-litre storage tank and hand-washing station. Now, the school is capable of setting aside enough water during the rainy season to meet everyone's drinking and sanitation needs even during the dry season. Geoffrey Kambo, the school’s headteacher, says the students are no longer burdened with the task of bringing water to the school and that has improved class attendance. |
