Repaired well brings safe water – and sound sleep!
Donors to Lifewater Canada who enabled an overworked well pump to be repaired in Nigeria can take credit for safe water flowing again – and for a local pastor and his wife getting some badly needed sleep!
The pump had become rusty and frail by the time our repair team arrived. In its weakened state, the well could not provide enough water for the community during daylight hours, so villagers were forced to line up with their buckets well into the night.
Because the well was on a local church’s property, the village’s pastor and his wife were kept awake while people were laboring away on the squeaky handpump almost right outside their door.
“They had to beg people to let them sleep,” recalls Hosea Abalaka Apeh who leads Lifewater’s well drilling and repair team in Nigeria. “Now, our repair work has prolonged the life of this over-used pump, which translates to great blessings for the community.”
And much-need sleep for the community’s pastor and his wife!
Hosea is fielding requests for new wells in the area, and in other parts of Nigeria. Lifewater Canada is fielding similar requests in many parts of Africa and Haiti. Please help to meet this growing need.
