Lifewater has a unique community-led model

Local Teams. Lasting Change...

Train and equip local teams.

First, we train and equip local teams in 6 areas of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs like well drilling and pump repairs.

Local teams lead the work.

Second, these local teams complete projects and engage community members, creating ownership through involvement.

Donors make it affordable.

Third, support from donors make projects affordable.

Because a well is only a solution if it keeps working

Local, empowered leaders keep safe water flowing and break the cycle of poverty by building lasting strength from within.

Our story

30 Years Since our First Well

It all started with a discouraging diagnosis and one trip to Liberia over 30 years ago…

Why it Matters

Without clean water, sanitation and hygiene, disease spreads, poverty grows, and opportunity disappears, especially for women and children.

Because every 35 seconds, a child dies from water-related diseases.

Your support makes a difference.

What people are saying

Water is such a basic human right. It is beyond comprehension that rich societies like ours don't focus on everyone having clean, drinking water. Imagine what the world's wealthiest people could do to change the world if he believed in this.

Wow! Five years (of monthly giving) already. I'm grateful to be able to support the excellent work that you have been doing.

We are delighted to continue with our monthly donations to this very worthy cause. Having fresh water is a basic necessity and the value it brings to communities – especially in allowing young children to attend school and not remain at home gathering water  -- is a blessing.

I was looking to help communities with water first. My other criteria was to ensure that the administrative fees were low so that the money mainly goes to help. You were well rated. Thank you for helping.

Access to clean water is something we often take for granted that has a huge impact on people's daily lives, so the cause is close to my heart. Lifewater's operational efficiency helps make the impact even greater, so I'm happy to give generously.

I cannot imagine living without water. We are so blessed in our country, that we turn on the tap and many of us do not think that water is second to oxygen in our need to live. Having been a registered nurse in my career, I saw firsthand how water provides the basic sanitary needs of life to prevent the spread of germs and disease, as well as its importance in hydration. Clean water should be a right of all.
