On behalf of Nguueni Primary School and the board, I want to extend our gratitude to Lifewater Canada and Lifewater RESCUE Kenya for giving dignity to our students by constructing a safe and decent restroom for them. The latrines used by our students before were very dangerous to the younger students because of its structure, which was very old. The older students refrained from using the old latrines because of the many holes it had. But now, you have done so well for us. This is an initiative of honor and respectability to the students. God bless you. ---School Leaders
Students at Nguueni Primary School in Mwingi, Kitui county, would fear for their safety whenever they needed to use latrines at the school. This is because their structures were so week given that they were very old and therefore the fear of the possibility of them collapsing on students, but that was not the only danger the latrines posed on the students; you see, the school is located in an area infested with snakes; the teachers and parents often feared that the many holes in the latrines were snakes’ hideout. However, Lifewater Canada funded the construction of a new 3- door latrine in the school in Nguueni Primary School. The school’s principal says the latrine isn’t just giving students their dignity back and ensuring proper sanitation, but it is also a safe and secure room to answer the call of nature, something the students have never had.
