A message from the community

We, the people of Kang'ethya village, wish to give thanks to Lifewater Canada and Lifewater RESCUE Kenya for sending a team to our village to teach us on matters health and hygiene. We appreciate you all. ---Community Leaders

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Kang'ethya community members in Mwingi Central would drink and wash from unsafe water sources. Even though the rivers that snake through the community are dry for the most part, residents collect water from the hand-dug wells in the riverbeds. However, the water is not usually safe for drinking and the community did not know how to make it safe. But that is not all, the villagers reported having health issues that were connected to poor hygiene and sanitation. So, to sensitize the community on the importance of Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation, Lifewater Canada and Lifewater RESCUE Kenya provided Health and Hygiene education to the villagers. The lessons focused on personal hygiene and protecting the environment, including water sources.
