We, the community of Levuni Primary School, appreciate you for constructing a two-door latrine so that our girls can have their own latrine. The latrine does not just provide privacy for our girls, it provides dignity, safety and saves time. We appreciate your kindness. Yours Faithfully, Caxton Kiema, Headteacher
Girls in Levuni Primary School in Mwingi region struggled with privacy issues because they did not have a latrine. The structure that would serve in the place of a latrine was anything but physically safe. The girls would also spend a lot of time queueing to use the single latrine, and sometimes, they were forced to run home to access latrines, according to Caxton Kiema, the school headteacher. This would keep them out of school, leading to poos performance. Thankfully, things are looking up for the girls, this is after Lifewater Canada funded the construction of a two-door latrine for the girls. The latrine together with the two hand washing stations provides privacy, dignity and safety for the students.
