In the village of Ashara, residents had to endure open defecation for years, which resulted in water contamination and frequent outbreaks of diarrhea, especially during the rainy season. With no latrines in place, the health of the entire community suffered. After Lifewater arrived and built A fully functional public latrine, the village experienced a significant transformation. The community now had safe places to dispose of waste, which reduced the contamination of water sources and diseases. Within just a few months, the health of children improved, and the overall well being of the community greatly benefited. Village leaders thanked Lifewater, saying that they finally felt a sense of dignity and relief, knowing their children were safer and healthier.
