I, Benjamin Bulus of ECWA Ebbo community, in Niger State, Lapai Local Government, wish to appreciate your kind gesture for the provision of portable water in our community. Our people can now enjoy good water, and this intervention has stopped going us for going distant stream to fetch water. God bless Lifewater Organization. Yours faithfully, Benjamin Bulus
For the resilient Ebbo community in Niger State, Nigeria, life is a tapestry woven with threads of agricultural tradition, the challenges of the Niger River, and a strong sense of community. This community has sustained itself through farming, cultivating crops like rice, yams, and sweet potatoes, and through herding cattle. Their enterprise extends beyond agriculture, with many involved in trade, skilled crafts, and public service. Yet, the Ebbo people have also faced their share of hardships. Living near the Niger River Basin, they've endured devastating floods, such as those in 1989, 1995, 1996, 2012, and 2020, which brought displacement and destruction. Within this larger context, the ECWA (Evangelical Church Winning All) congregation in Ebbo has also faced a significant challenge: water scarcity. As Mr. John D from ECWA Ebbo recounts, "I want to appreciate Lifewater for her outstanding efforts towards the church and community at large. Our community has been facing water challenges for a very long time which has affected both the activities in the church and the community at large. Our day-to-day productivity was affected due to the high level of water scarcity we faced." The lack of clean, accessible water impacted the daily lives of ECWA Ebbo members and the surrounding community. "We had to go to the stream to get water which is unsafe and not suitable for use," explains Mr. John D. This placed a burden on individuals and hindered the church's ability to fully serve its congregation and the wider community. The arrival of Lifewater has brought a transformative change to ECWA Ebbo. "But now, we now have full access to clean safe water," Mr. John D gratefully reports. "We sincerely appreciate the organization for coming to drill a new borehole thereby giving us access to clean safe water after several months of lack of water." This new borehole has provided a vital resource for the church and has had a ripple effect, benefiting the entire Ebbo community. "Thank you so much," Mr. John D concludes. "May God continue to empower and strengthen the organization." This story highlights how access to clean water has strengthened ECWA Ebbo's ability to serve as a source of support and hope within the Ebbo community, enabling both spiritual and practical well-being.
