We, the members of the Emi Guzman community, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT-Abuja, wish to thank Lifewater Nigeria for rehabilitating our long-term damaged borehole. We can now enjoy a good water supply. God bless you for your good work. Yours faithfully, Isahe Baba
Emi Guzman, a community within the Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria, is situated in a region with a rich and diverse history. Niger State, the largest state in Nigeria, has been home to various cultural groups, including the Nupe people who have a significant historical presence in the area. Gbako LGA, like many parts of Niger State, has faced challenges in providing basic infrastructure and services to its communities, particularly access to clean and safe water. Historically, residents often relied on traditional water sources, which can be susceptible to contamination and scarcity. For Aliyu Usman and the residents of Emi Guzman Community, the lack of a reliable water source had become a critical issue. As Aliyu recounts: "My name is Aliyu Usman, and I live here in Emi Guzman Community. Our well had become an abandoned well, leaving us no choice but to use a polluted water source that made us sick. The long search for water took its toll on everyone, especially the women who bore the burden daily." Aliyu's words paint a stark picture of the daily struggles faced by the community. Their primary water source had failed, forcing them to rely on a polluted alternative that directly impacted their health. The arduous task of searching for water, a responsibility often falling on women, consumed valuable time and energy, hindering other essential activities. The arrival of Lifewater brought a much-needed intervention and a remarkable transformation. Aliyu describes their work with profound gratitude: "Lifewater rehabilitation work was nothing short of miraculous. They restored the well, and with it, our access to clean water. Now, mothers have more time to care for their families, children attend school with joy looking neat and well kept, illnesses are a distant memory." The rehabilitation of the abandoned well has had a multifaceted impact on Emi Guzman Community. Access to clean water has directly improved the health of the residents, making waterborne illnesses a thing of the past. The time and energy previously spent on the long search for water have been freed up, allowing mothers to dedicate more time to their families and enabling children to attend school regularly, clean and healthy. Aliyu's concluding remarks powerfully convey the community's deep appreciation: "Lifewater work has transformed our lives, and we cannot thank them enough. Our sincerest gratitude to Lifewater for their incredible work. Their dedication to providing clean water to communities like ours is truly inspiring." This story from Emi Guzman highlights the profound and far-reaching impact of restoring a vital water source, bringing health, dignity, and renewed hope to an entire community.
