A message from the community

I wish to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation on behalf of LEA Pri. Sch. Islamiya school for the excellent services you have provided at my school. Your team’s attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness have not gone unnoticed. Before the organizational intervention, the school pupils have been defecating in an open environment which cause a lot of havoc to our learning girls and women in our community, but with this training, the girls have an insight on how to keep away from contracting diseases in the Ubosharu community. Thank you for all the training carried out to ensure our environment remains clean and tidy. Yours sincerely, Murjanatu Rabiu 08116446989

Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

LEA Primary School Islamiya had been a place of silent suffering for years, deeply impacted by a severe water crisis. Usman Kalif, a member of the school community, shared the heartbreaking reality: the lack of water led to immense embarrassment, particularly for girls, with some even resorting to bringing plastic bottles of water from home just for personal hygiene. The risk children took daily was profound, crossing a dangerous expressway in search of water. Without water to flush and clean them, the school's toilet facilities were completely abandoned, creating an unsanitary environment. However, Lifewater's arrival brought a profound and unprecedented change to their circumstances, bringing the much-needed solution, transforming the school's environment and ensuring the safety of its pupils. The impact of Lifewater's efforts has been truly transformative for LEA Primary School Islamiya. With the new well, the perilous journeys across the expressway for water are now a thing of the past, significantly reducing the risk to children's lives. The school now boasts active handwashing stations and working toilets, creating a dignified and hygienic learning environment. This has led to better attendance, especially among girls, who no longer face the embarrassment and discomfort caused by inadequate sanitation. Teachers are also more motivated, knowing their pupils are learning in a healthier space. "Thank you Lifewater for coming to give us clean safe water," Usman Kalif expressed, his voice filled with immense gratitude. "May Allah bless and reward you for this free Gift." Lifewater's intervention has not only provided a vital resource but has also brought safety, dignity, and improved educational outcomes to the entire school community.
