On behalf of Vemu community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, write to appreciate Lifewater Canada for the rehabilitation of our borehole. Thank you for your support and concern as we anticipate for more good works and rehabilitation to us. Yours faithfully, Istifanus Ibrahim
Chief Abdulrahman of the Vemu community speaks with a heart full of gratitude, reflecting on a profound transformation that has swept through his village. For too long, his people endured immense suffering due to the absence of clean water, a burden that disproportionately fell on women and children. "I am Abdulrahman, the chief of Vemu community. Thank you, Lifewater, for remembering my village and helping us to rehabilitate our damaged borehole," he begins, his voice resonating with deep appreciation. He vividly recounts the arduous past: "Our children and women suffered a lot going to fetch water from unreliable sources. The stream we depended on was far and very dirty, which is often shared it with animals, and the water caused stomach problems for many people, especially the children. Women would walk long distances just to fetch a few containers, and they returned tired every day." This paints a stark picture of a community forced to rely on a distant, contaminated water source, leading to widespread illness, particularly among children, and chronic exhaustion for women. This relentless struggle profoundly affected daily activities and diminished the overall quality of life. Today, that grim reality has been replaced by renewed hope. "After Lifewater intervention, life has changed for the better. We now fetch clean water right here in our village," Chief Abdulrahman shares with immense relief. The successful rehabilitation of their borehole has brought an immediate and dramatic improvement to their daily lives. The impact is profound and deeply felt throughout Vemu. "No more long walks for the children and women or sickness. Everyone is happy and relieved. It feels like we’ve been given a second chance to live." The consistent availability of clean, accessible water has eliminated arduous journeys, drastically reduced waterborne illnesses, and replaced despair with joy and peace of mind. This intervention has truly given the community a new lease on life, restoring their health, dignity, and opportunity. "We are truly grateful for the huge support. May God bless you all and increase all you do with great favours," Chief Abdulrahman concludes, his heartfelt words reflecting the deep appreciation of the entire Vemu community. The story of Vemu is a powerful testament to how restoring access to clean water can alleviate immense suffering, improve public health, and bring an invaluable sense of hope and renewed possibility to a community that had long endured hardship.
