Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

Chief Musa Ismaila of Mutun-Daya speaks from the depths of his heart, expressing profound gratitude for the transformation that has swept through his community. For years, his people endured immense suffering due to the absence of clean water, a crisis that affected every aspect of their lives. "My name is Musa Ismaila, the Chief of Mutun-Daya. I want to thank Lifewater from the depths of my heart for bringing life back to my community through the rehabilitation of our long damaged borehole," he begins. He vividly recounts their arduous past: "For years, my people suffered due to lack of clean water. The borehole we once depended on had broken down, and we were left to fetch water from a distant river that was dirty and risky, especially for our children and the elderly." This paints a stark picture of a community forced to rely on a dangerous, contaminated water source, leading to widespread waterborne diseases. The situation was particularly dire during the dry season, when scarcity intensified, even leading to "fights... at the few available wells in neighboring villages." Today, that grim reality has been replaced by renewed hope and dignity. "Everything changed the moment Lifewater stepped in to assist us. Your intervention has given us more than just water, it has restored our dignity." The successful rehabilitation of their borehole has brought an immediate and dramatic improvement to their daily lives. The impact is profound and deeply felt throughout Mutun-Daya. "Our women no longer wake up before dawn to search for water. Our children can now go to school clean and on time. And the constant fear of disease has finally eased." The consistent availability of clean, accessible water has liberated women from arduous journeys, allowed children to attend school regularly and hygienically, and replaced pervasive fear with peace of mind. "May Almighty God bless you richly for this act of love. Thank you for remembering Mutun-Daya community and also giving us the privilege to taste and have good water after a long time of suffering," Chief Musa Ismaila concludes, his heartfelt words reflecting the deep appreciation of the entire community. The story of Mutun-Daya is a powerful testament to how restoring access to clean water can alleviate immense suffering, improve public health, and bring invaluable dignity, peace, and renewed life to a community that had long endured hardship.
