Some community details (provided by our in-country partners)

The Biri community had long suffered in silence, their lives a daily struggle against severe water scarcity after their crucial borehole broke down. This pervasive hardship led to widespread illness and deep exhaustion, particularly among women and children. Adamu Dansada, speaking on behalf of his grateful community, expresses immense relief. "My name is Adamu Dansada, from Biri community," he begins. "We are grateful beyond words for the rehabilitation of our borehole. For years, we suffered in silence." He vividly recounts the desperation they faced: "The borehole that once gave us clean water stopped working, the hand dug well we dig to help sustain us constantly goes dry leaving us no option than to fetch water from a pond that animals also drank from." This paints a grim picture of a community with no safe water source, forced to rely on a contaminated pond. The toll was profound: "Our children were constantly sick, and our women were worn out from the long distances they had to walk every day. Life got so difficult for all living in the community." Today, however, that grim reality has been replaced by joy and renewed hope. "But today, we all rejoice as clean safe water flows again," Adamu shares with immense gratitude. The successful rehabilitation of their borehole by Lifewater has brought a dramatic and immediate transformation. The impact is deeply felt throughout Biri. "Our children now smile as they fetch water with ease and can now go to school with distractions. The burden on our women has been lifted. And as a community, we now feel healthier and stronger." The constant availability of clean, accessible water means healthier children who can focus on their education, and women are freed from the grueling task of water collection. The entire community experiences improved health and a newfound strength. "Lifewater has indeed given us back our lives and restored back our lost hopes. May the one who brought this blessing never lack. We will never forget your kindness. Thank you Lifewater," Adamu concludes, his heartfelt words reflecting the deep appreciation of the entire Biri community. The story of Biri is a powerful testament to how restoring access to clean water can alleviate immense suffering, improve health, empower women and children, and ultimately bring life and renewed hope back to a community.
