Over a thousand residents of Kosaka in Kisumu county had no nearby or affordable clean source of water. The villagers would consume water from the swamp. Women were expected to haul water from the swamp to their homes which was not just tedious, it often left them with water collection-related injuries as they carried heavy containers full of water on their heads. Women in Kosaka community have a good reason to smile because Lifewater Canada in partnership with Stada Kenya constructed a new well in the community and installed a new hand pump. People in Kosaka are gratefully enjoying clean and safe water closer to home.
