Gidinye is a small but vibrant community in Obi Local Government, Nasarawa State. Families here depend on their land and small local market. For a long time, the only borehole in Gidinye stopped working after the pump broke down and the pipes rusted. Without it, residents fetched water from open wells and shallow stagnant ponds. These sources were unsafe and unreliable, making many children fall sick from diarrhea and other waterborne illnesses. Women also spent hours trekking to collect water instead of supporting their families on the farm. During our visit, we fully rehabilitated the borehole. The faulty pump was replaced, and safe water began to flow again. The community now has safe water close by with less time wasted searching for water, and families can focus on farming and building a better future.
