We the elders and members of Kokoville write to appreciate you for a job well done by constructing a new well for our community. The project came at a time when we were in dire need of safe drinking water. We hope that this good thought will be taken to other communities around us. Thanks for your good work. We also extend our thanks and appreciation to your team that came and conducted a (Health and Hygiene) workshop. The workshop unveiled some health problems in our community so we want to once again appreciate you for your program. - Moses Kolleh and Pastor Samuel B Kombe, Community Leaders
Kokoville, in the Margibi region, was established in 1990 during the Liberian civil war. Its approximately 1,500 residents, most of them farmers, depended on hand-dug wells for their drinking and other water needs. These wells are open to the elements and therefore a constant risk of contamination. Many people complained of diarrhea, typhoid, skins rashes and more. Thanks to Lifewater Canada donors, a new well has been drilled in Kokoville so residents have safe and easily accessible water for all of their household needs. Lifewater's Health and Hygiene team also shared important lessons about hand-washing and safe food preparation to prevent disease transmission.
