Dear Sir/Madame We are a large town that is close to the sea. Our pump has rusted badly over the years and needed to be replaced. As one, everyone is very thankful for this new pump and to have safe water once again in our town. Thank you so much. -- Bas Cite Chauvel village Leaders
Anyone who has ever lived close to the ocean knows the impact of salt water. It fills the air with salt dust that attaches to anything and everything -- including metal. Lifewater drilled a well in Bas Cite Chauvel in 2016 that failed recently due to all the rust that had accumulated on the metal parts of the hand pump. More than 3,000 people who depended on the well were left in a desperate situation. They had to begin drawing their water from a river about a 20-minute walk away. Unfortunately, the river wasn't safe for drinking. Thanks to our donors, Lifewater returned to Bas Cite Chauvel recently and rehabilitated the well, including a complete replacement of the rusted pump. Now safe and accessible water is flowing again for children and adults in the community.
